Improve labor outcomes with a Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop. Learn our physiological techniques that offer a complete system of birth preparation and labor ease concepts to improve labor with the baby's position.

The 2-day workshop covers the same curriculum as the 1-day workshop at an easy-to-integrate pace with additional time for more hands-on practice. Feel confident in how to apply the Spinning Babies® approach to help birthing families in community, clinical, and hospital settings.

Spinning Babies® begins with fetal rotation to reveal the lesser-known physiology of birth anatomy. Your passion, our approach. Start seeing solutions in labor progress with this new lens on childbirth.

After this workshop you will be able to:

  • Facilitate comfort in pregnancy and ease in childbirth for your clients
  • Improve fetal position without manipulation of the fetus
  • Identify issues faster; gentle actions to shorten a long labor or avoid a cesarean
  • Use less (or no) force to resolve malposition and labor dystocia
  • And much, much more!

Spinning Babies® Three Principles SM, Three Balances SM, and Pelvic Levels Solutions SM offers the world’s first complete system of birth preparation and labor ease concepts using baby’s position. Physiological techniques change the effective size of the pelvis through the body’s own innate capacity to resolve or prevent labor dystocia.

Completing a Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop is the prerequisite for our Spinning Babies® Integration Workshop and advanced training programs.

The 2 Day workshop includes everything the 1 Day workshops includes and more. The 2 day workshop allows you to take in the Spinning Babies paradigm at a slower embodied pace. Extra time allows us to critically think about scenarios and how to best apply techniques.

We welcome all professionals who serve people in their pregnancy and birth. Ideal for midwives, nurses, nurse practitioners, doulas, and childbirth educators. Also attended by obstetricians, family medicine doctors, prenatal yoga instructors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, perinatal case managers, and community health workers. Recommended for people new to Spinning Babies®, as well as those who have been practicing it for years.

CEs are available for some participants, as noted in the Continuing Education section.

Coffee and pastries will be provided each morning. Please bring your own water and lunch. We will break for lunch about 12:30 pm each day.

Equity Access Statement for each of my workshops:

Equity Seats are offered to Black, Indigenous and other Birth Professionals in an effort to reduce the gross inequalities within the maternal / infant mortality that affect these communities disproportionately. I make two full Equity Seats available and two partial pay Equity Seats available for every single one of my workshops. Seats are often first come first serve. Tema Mercado

Tema Mercado is a Midwife (LM, CPM), mother to six children and a grandmother. She believes that birth work can change the world and has dedicated the last 13 years to birth and reproductive justice on the U.S Mexico Border serving families on both sides of the border.\Spinning Babies® as a concept and practice came to Tema early on in her student midwife journey. She connected with Nicole Morales and through her mentorship, Tema began to view birth through a different lens.Spinning Babies® is a paradigm shift on how we understand and assist different forms of pregnancy discomfort. One of the fundamental approaches in this practice asks,”where is the baby?” in relation to the levels of the pelvis. It decentralizes questions about cervix dilation which expands our capacity to support complications in births like labor dystocia, shoulder dystocia and breech birth. The expansiveness in Spinning Babies® and its commitment of restoring balance in pregnancy aligned with Tema’s ancestral midwifery knowledge that was passed down from her Partera ancestors.Tema feels honored to be part of a collective of people supporting the training. She looks forward to traveling and learning from her future Spinning Babies® workshop participants. If you are curious about the work Tema offers in the community, you can visit her website http://www.lamatrizbirth.com/ and her IG page @matrizmidwife.
